New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS) For four days filled with simulation of intense future conflict scenarios and display of astute leadership, a tri-service multi-domain exercise was conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Northern Command in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.
The important multi-domain exercise concluded on Friday, and according to officials, it “generated new lessons, improved response and set new benchmarks in India’s preparedness for next generation conflicts.”
The exercise challenged commanders, staff and soldiers with future threats in cyber, space, electromagnetic and cognitive domains.
The exercise involved participation of CAPFs, sister services, central government agencies and private sector players who participated jointly, underscoring the importance of an integrated and whole-of-nation approach to the ever-evolving security scenario.
“The participation of indigenous defense industry players has set a new benchmark towards achieving jointness, self-reliance and innovation,” officials said.
During the exercise, troops deployed in forward areas practiced scenarios like cyber intrusion, spectrum saturation, electronic jamming, spoofing and cognitive attacks.
“In modern warfare, the lines between domains are blurring, so we need to leverage specific technology and keep innovating. A whole-of-nation approach is required to protect our territorial integrity and critical assets, and also take punitive action against the adversary if the situation demands,” Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Prateek Sharma said while interacting with the troops.
Starting with a thoughtful dialogue during the Samvad held in Mathura on 4 October, the exercise demonstrated that preparedness for the future war starts with an open mind and seamless teamwork.
The Northern Command is now better equipped, united and prepared to defend against emerging threats with strategic foresight and multi-domain synergy.
Specifically, the Northern Command is responsible for the sanctity of the borders with China and Pakistan, including the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Line of Control (LC).
The command theater includes the Siachen Glacier, cold desert, high altitude areas, mountains and densely forested plains.
