Northern coastal Andhra floods of heavy rains in Vamasadhara of Nagavali

Visakhapatnam: Heavy rainfall under the influence of a cyclonic storm, which crossed the Odisha coast early Friday, triggered floods in the Vamasadhara and Nagavali rivers in North coastal Andhra Pradesh, which fled in low-fledged areas.

According to the Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Center, cyclonic storm, which crosses the coast near Gopalpur in Odisha, is likely to move in the north-north-west direction in the interior Odisha and gradually weaken into a well-low pressure system during the next 12 hours.

Under the influence of a cyclonic storm, heavy rains are likely in the northern coastal districts.

In some places, very heavy rains along with heavy rains along with heavy heavy rains are expected to occur on Srikakulam, Parvatipuram many and Vijiangaram districts and districts of Janam.

The meteorological office has issued a red warning to three districts, which is likely to receive more than 20 centimeters of rainfall. Flash floods may experience in these districts.

The massive flow in the Vamasadhara surrounded some villages and agricultural areas of Srikakulam district.

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has alerted people in Srikakulam, many and Vijianagaram districts.

A second flood warning has been issued in Gotta Barrage in Srikakulam district. Gota barrage had 80,844 cusecs in Gota barrage on Friday morning.

Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of APSDMA, has urged people to take proper precautions in the river basin areas.

In the early hours of Friday, a couple died in a wall collapse in Srikakulam district. The incident took place in Savarbatur in Mandas division. The deceased was identified as Savara Budia (58) and Rupamma (60).

Agriculture Minister K. Athanadu, who is from Srikakulam district, reviewed the flood situation and asked the authorities to be vigilant to face any emergency. He spoke to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police over the phone and asked him to closely monitor the situation.

Earlier, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation due to heavy rainfall and strong winds in the northern coastal Andhra and the threat of flash floods for three districts.

He held a video conference with the collectors of the northern coastal Andhra district from his official residence in Amravati.

The Chief Minister inquired about the situation in the districts and directed the officers to ensure a uninterrupted power supply.

He said that in view of a warning from the Meteorological Department, the administration should be cautious and inform people.

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to provide necessary services to the people through a round-the-clock control room.
