According to a report by Hindustan Times, Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir did not oppose the dismissal of Assistant Coach Abhishek Nair. After becoming a serious coach, Gambhir appointed Nair as part of his assistant employees and he shares a long partnership with the time of working with Kolkata Knight Riders. According to the report, when BCCI decided to ‘trim’ Gambar’s coaching staff after a bad show in the Test series against Australia, he did not oppose the idea. Fielding coach T Dileep, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Soham Desai are also out after completing more than three years in their respective positions.

BCCI’s new standard operation process (SOP) has overshadowed the tenure of assistant employees in three years.

It is learned that India’s first strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Rukes are likely to return to a second term. South African is widely credited to start a new fitness culture in the Indian team led by the then Sourav Ganguly during the 2003 World Cup.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, when approached by PTI, chose Query to sideline.

“Some things are being finalized. You will receive a press note from BCCI in a few days,” Saik said when asked about development.

The 41-year-old Nair, a former all-rounder, played three Odis, but broadly a domestic stallwart with 103 first-class games, did not respond to a text message sent by PTI.
