US President Donald Trump on Tuesday refused to demand a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, amidst the ongoing trade talks between the two countries.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he could only visit China at Xi’s invitation, which has already been extended.
“Fake news is reporting that I am demanding a” summit “with Chinese President Xi. It is not right, I am asking for anything! I can go to China, but it will only be at the invitation of President Xi, which has been extended. Otherwise, no interest! No interest!
Earlier on June 5, Trump said that he had a ‘very good’ telephonic conversation with Xi, which focused on business. He said that the latter had invited him to go to China.
“I only concluded a very good phone call with Chinese President Xi, which discussed some of our recently made complications, and agreed to the business deal. The call lasted for about one and a half hours, and consequently a very positive conclusion would be made for the two countries … We will meet in a place for the Secretary of Treasury Screesy.
