According to an expert, there is no reason to play rugby, in the event of incurable muscle-scorching, there is no cause of motor neurone disease.
The game is from the news that 47 -year -old former England Captain Lewis Moody MND has been diagnosed, causing fellow players to die Doddy heroRob Baro and Jost Van Der Westuism.
Lester and Glousster Second Row Ed Slater The same diagnosis was given in 2022.
Dr. of Research in MND Association, Dr. Nick Cole states that research indicates that a combination of factors is responsible for progressive disease that attacks the brain and spinal cord.
“There is no concrete, fixed link between rugby and MND,” Cole told the PA news agency.
“A lot of work has gone into an attempt to find any generality or reasons with sports and exercise.
“There have been studies that show that there is an increased risk in professional sports players, but they were small studies, so it was a small increase in people in small numbers.
“This is more of a case of perception because you have found these high-profile people, who share their stories, but six people will be diagnosed with MND every day.
“So it is not per rugby, it can be a genetic tendency to develop MND for those who are created to become active and participate in the game.
“We know that MND is caused by a mixture of environment, lifestyle and genetics.
“Sports may be one of the contributing factors, but there are many other subjects within the biology of MND that we are investigating to find effective treatments we need.”
Recent successes have occurred in treatment after an effective therapy has been developed for a genetic form of MND, although it is not yet available on National Health Services.
Funding from the MND Association has underlined many discoveries and is expected to follow more medicines, but neurodygenetrable diseases are complex and a treatment can be found “in tomorrow or many years”.
“Now we know that MNd is not untreated, it is just less judged and we need to raise more money to do more research to get closer to effective treatments,” Cole said.
“This is an absolutely devastating diagnosis. It is extremely difficult for people and their families to take on board as it comes out of blue and can affect anyone.”
Moody’s friend and former Lester team companions Georoden Murphy and Leon Lloyd have set up a Gofundme page for a British and Irish lion, who captained England 12 times.
“Disease can occur so fast in some people. A third of people die within two years of diagnosis,” Cole said.
“Every case will require housing optimization, which can be a slow process through legal service, so by the time you get the necessary money, you must have gone to the second stage of disability.
“In addition to the inability to work, the care you need can be expensive.”
