Patna, Oct 21 (IANS) Campaigning for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday addressed a massive public rally in Meenapur, Muzaffarpur, where he showcased the achievements of the state government and launched a scathing attack on the opposition.
Highlighting the record of his administration, Kumar said that ever since his government came to power, the rule of law has been firmly established in Bihar.
“Earlier people were afraid to leave their homes after sunset. Today, peace and harmony prevail in the entire state,” he said.
Recalling the frequent communal tensions and incidents of theft in temples during the earlier regime, the Chief Minister said, “There used to be unrest between Hindus and Muslims and theft in temples was common. Now such incidents do not happen.”
Focusing on development and employment, Nitish Kumar claimed that his government has created more than 40 lakh jobs so far and has set a target of 1 crore new jobs in the next five years.
“We have made historic progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure and employment. Roads now reach every village, facilities in hospitals have been enhanced and opportunities for the youth have expanded,” he said.
He accused the opposition parties of failing the people during their tenure.
“Those who ruled earlier did nothing for Bihar. They remember the people only during elections,” the Chief Minister alleged.
A large crowd attended the rally, repeatedly interrupting his speech with applause – a sign, party leaders claimed, of public satisfaction with the government’s work.
However, one dramatic moment during the program caught attention. When Nitish Kumar started garlanding the party candidates in his traditional style, a senior JDU leader stopped him because he was about to garland a woman candidate.
The Chief Minister looked clearly displeased and before garlanding the candidate he remarked, “He is a wonderful man; holds his hands.”
A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, drawing reactions from the opposition.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav shared the clip on his official account raising questions over the Chief Minister’s health.
“If the Chief Minister is healthy, then why is he reading written speeches and behaving like this?” Tejashwi wrote, ‘Ghee has been added to the ongoing political war of words.
