Notably, Mr. Kushwaha holds the post of state president of the PPP and as per the NDA’s seat allocation formula, the party will contest only the Karakot seat that was previously held by the party’s founder.
Speculations are rife that the former MP or his wife may contest the Lok Sabha polls from Sivan, one of the 16 seats where the JD(U) is contesting.
Party sources said sitting MP Kavita Singh from Sivan is likely to be ousted.
However, to pointed queries, Mr Jia replied: “The party chairman has not yet finalized the names of any seats.”
He also said that while the seat allocation package had been jointly announced by all NDA partners in Delhi earlier this week, the parties concerned may announce their candidates separately.
Mr Chaudhry added, “I can say that a formal announcement will be made in less than 24 hours and after that there will be no need to ask any questions about the Lok Sabha candidates”.
