Bhagalpur (Bihar), Nov 9 (IANS) BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Sunday reacted to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent statement on Congress and Muslims, saying the CM has understood that the party has “nothing to do with Hindutva” and “only cares about Muslims”.
Addressing a street meeting in Hyderabad’s Shekhpet division earlier this week, Reddy had said, “It is only the Congress that gave big positions to minorities. Congress means Muslim, and Muslim means Congress. In our government, Hindus and Muslims are all equal. We do not discriminate.”
Responding to Reddy’s statement, Nishikant Dubey told IANS, “Revanth is a very good friend of ours. He has worked with us. Revanth’s pain has come to the fore and he understands it. Congress has nothing to do with Hindutva and only cares about Muslims. He has spoken the truth.”
Revanth Reddy had also said that he had won the Kodangal assembly seat thrice with the support of the minorities and claimed that the minorities did not face any problem during the 20 months of Congress rule in the state.
Reiterating that Congress is committed to the welfare of Muslims, he alleged that BRS is betraying Muslims. He reiterated that BRS will soon merge with BJP.
Following his statements, for allegedly saying that the existence of Muslims is due to the Congress party, he came under attack from opposition parties and Muslim groups claiming that his comments were twisted.
The Chief Minister also said that he has been a secular leader since he entered politics.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Muslim groups had condemned Revanth Reddy’s remarks.
Muslim groups had demanded an apology, terming the alleged comment that “if there is Congress then there is a Muslim, if there is no Congress then you are nothing” as derogatory.
