Bhagalpur (Bihar), November 9 (IANS) BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has hit out at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his dance jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Congress MP “does not care” about Indian civilization and culture as the Gandhi family “did not inculcate good values” in him.

Last week, Gandhi had accused PM Modi of doing “anything for votes”, saying, “If you ask Narendra Modi to dance in exchange for your votes, he will dance on the stage.”

Just days later, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi was seen joining women of the Tharu tribe in their traditional dance in West Champaran district of poll-bound Bihar.

Responding to this, Nishikant Dubey said in an interview with IANS, “If Priyanka Gandhi dances well, she is our fellow MP and that is a very good thing. But the way Rahul Gandhi has made the statement about the Prime Minister, it is very indecent and capricious. Whenever his (Rahul Gandhi’s) father and mother went to the North-East, they were seen dancing. Were they dancing for votes?”

He also accused the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition of having “no concern” about Indian civilization and culture.

“This statement shows that Rahul Gandhi does not care about Indian civilization and culture. Making such statements about the country’s Prime Minister shows that the Gandhi family has not instilled good values in Rahul, so what can we say about him?” Dubey added.

Meanwhile, the BJP has filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the Congress MP’s comments, alleging violation of the model code of conduct and insulting the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office.

ALSO READ  SC will hear tomorrow the bail plea of the accused in the 'big conspiracy' case of Delhi riots.

The party said Gandhi’s comments, including his suggestion that the Prime Minister could “do Bharatnatyam on the stage for votes”, were inappropriate and unbecoming of a national leader.

The BJP urged the Election Commission to take immediate action against Gandhi.
