Nicola Sturgeon’s husband Peter Murrell has been charged by police after being arrested as part of an investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.
Police said he was charged with embezzling party funds.

Murrell became chief executive of the SNP in 2001 and stood down in 2023.
He has been married to Ms Sturgeon since 2010, who resigned as first minister in February last year.
Murrell has resigned from the Scottish National Party.
An SNP spokesman said: “While this development is shocking, the police investigation is ongoing and it would be inappropriate to make any comment.”
