Nicola Coughlan is ‘terrified’ as ‘Bridgerton’ season 3 premiere approaches

Nicola Coughlan, best known for playing Penelope Featherington in the Netflix series bridgertonadmitted to feeling a mix of nerves and excitement as the season three premiere approaches.

In a behind-the-scenes featurette shared on Saturday, May 4, Coughlan expressed his apprehension about Season 3 as it focuses on his character’s love story.

“It’s a little scary coming back to Season 3, knowing that the story is your love story,” he confessed in the video.

With all eyes on Penelope and Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, Coughlan’s character underwent a significant change for the new season.

Showrunner Jess Brownell and Coughlan’s co-star Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton, are eager for audiences to see Penelope’s growth.

“I’m excited for everyone to see Nicola Coughlan lead Season 3,” Jessie said, hinting, “I can’t wait for people to see it.” It is really beautiful.

Brownell described Penelope’s transformation symbolically and compared it to a “butterfly emerging from the chrysalis” in this season.

Meanwhile, Coughlan described Penelope’s development as “amazing” and emphasized how the change benefits her character and helps her “grow in confidence” personally.

She said, “I was like, ‘It’s great. Like it needs a big change to look like a different person.’

The anticipation of Penelope’s character development is remarkable bridgerton Season 3 will premiere on May 16, with the second part premiering a month later on June 13.
