New Delhi, October 6 (IANS) National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken cognizance of a media report that a 5 -year -old student at a residential school in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand died due to alleged injuries by a teacher who had severely beaten him.
Allegedly, the brother of the dead child, who is also enrolled in the same school, said that the teacher assaulted his brother, as he refused to eat food. The top human rights body has observed that the content of the news report, if true, raises a serious issue of human rights violations.
NHRC has issued notices to Jharkhand Chief Secretary and Superintendent of Police, Hazribagh for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks.
According to media reports made on 25 September, the accused teacher and school manager are absconding.
The deceased and his brother were nominated in the same residential school, who lived in the hostel and participated in various classes.
According to the victim’s brother, the child was often taken back, remembering his parents, and was blind around the teachers. He further mentioned that the victim had stopped eating. During this period, a female teacher allegedly scolded her and beat her with a stick. The child was allegedly stopped to fall and stop breathing due to the alleged attack.
The brother said that the victim’s eyes remained open, but he was universal and showed no signs of movement.
