Mr Medwick had lived in the building for more than a decade and was described by neighbors as a “very friendly” and “sociable” man.

A source told the outlet that Mr Medwick lived with his girlfriend, who was visibly upset when he was taken to hospital following his death.

“I did see the girlfriend. She looked distraught. She kept saying her leg hurt… I don’t know if she was nervous. EMS took her away,” the source added.

The resident said Mr. Medwick worked mostly from home and sometimes clients who commissioned art from him would come to the building to pick up their pieces.

“Thank God it wasn’t in front. I didn’t want to see him like that,” they said.

“I would be traumatized. It’s not a pleasant sight.”

Police said they do not believe the fall was suspicious.
