Ahead of the New Year celebrations, Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory announcing restrictions, diversions and special parking arrangements in Connaught Place and surrounding areas. According to the advisory, the restrictions will remain in place from 7 pm on December 31 till the conclusion of New Year celebrations.
“In view of the possibility of huge crowd in Connaught Place and surrounding areas on the occasion of New Year-2026, Delhi Traffic Police has made special traffic arrangements,” the statement said.

Kolkata
Based on the official notification of Police Commissioner, Manoj Kumar Verma, traffic will be strictly regulated in Kolkata on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to ensure public safety. “The movement of goods vehicles will be regulated wherever considered necessary within Kolkata city by the traffic police deployed on duty on 31.12.2025 and 01.01.2026,” the statement said.

Chennai
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has also issued an advisory for New Year’s Eve celebrations of 2026. Sharing the advisory on Twitter, it wrote, “Large gathering is expected at Marina and Elliot Beach. To ensure a safe celebration, GCTP is enforcing traffic diversions, parking arrangements and strict action against rash driving and racing.”

Chandigarh
To ensure public safety, security and uninterrupted celebrations on New Year’s Eve 2026, Chandigarh Traffic Police has announced vehicle restrictions and enhanced enforcement actions in key areas. According to the official notification, certain busy market roads and public places will be designated ‘restricted vehicle zones’ from 9.30 pm to 2 am on December 31, 2025.
The restricted stretches include internal market roads of Sectors 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11; Road opposite Leisure Valley in Sector 10; Internal roads of Sector 17 and 22; Extension from Aroma Light Point near Sector 22 Dispensary to Chhote Chowk; and areas around Elante Mall in Industrial Area Phase 1.

For the New Year celebrations, the Adugodi Traffic Police has announced specific restrictions and diversions for the YD Matha Road area in Koramangala from 5:00 pm on December 31 to 2 am on January 1, 2026. As the city prepares for New Year celebrations, over 17,000 police officers have been deployed in Mumbai to maintain law and order. A large crowd is expected at the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Girgaon Chowpatty, Bandra Bandstand, and Juhu and Versova beaches from Wednesday evening, with celebrations in hotels, restaurants and shops continuing till Thursday morning. Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) will run extended services from 10.30 pm on December 31 to 5.55 am on January 1.

Goa
To manage the expected increase in traffic during the year-end celebrations, the Goa Traffic Police has announced closure of several roads, one-way diversions and parking prohibition in major tourist destinations.
“In view of the peak tourism season, the frequency of entry of tourist vehicles into Calangute has increased manifold, leading to congestion on the internal roads in VP Calangute jurisdiction,” the traffic police said in a statement. In order to ease congestion on village roads and facilitate smooth flow of vehicular traffic, thereby causing minimum inconvenience to commuters and local residents, the traffic police has imposed traffic jams on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in Calangute Gram Panchayat jurisdiction below. The mentioned traffic movement plan has been prepared.
