AIAn electric hair clipper and a self-opening refrigerator were among a host of new technologies unveiled at the world’s biggest technology show this week.
Many of the new announcements at CES focus on AIas companies look to add the much-hyped technology to new products.
However, some of these products may not be expected to integrate artificial intelligence. Glyde has released a smart hair clipper that can guide people to cut their own hair as long as they’re willing to wear a large headband and let the system know where the hair is on someone’s head.
Analyst Richard Windsor pointed out that last year’s CES focused on a series of innovations, but “artificial intelligence was basically absent from the show.” “This year, it’s almost all about new ideas, products and services that incorporate artificial intelligence to enable new use cases or bring previously impractical products to life,” he wrote in a report, noting that “robots and smart glasses” are likely to be the most discussed innovations.
As in previous years, many of the announcements at CES focused on updates to existing products. Big TV makers in particular have rolled out a slew of new upgrades, as well as new laptops and chips that power mobile phones.
But some common fixtures are less common. For example, many automakers have avoided launching new electric vehicles because Trump administration reforms have made them less financially attractive.
Instead, updates to new cars tend to focus on self-driving technology and new connections in vehicles.
