A Nor’easter made its way upward east coast on Sunday, with new Jersey A state of emergency was declared and some airports announced delays and cancellations ahead of anticipated coastal flooding and high winds as another storm system struck the south with heavy rains.
“The biggest impact is going to be the potential for coastal flooding, especially for areas in the northeast North Carolina Northward to much of the New Jersey coast,” said meteorologist Bob Orweck of the National Weather Service in College Park, Maryland.

The National Weather Service has placed New York City under a coastal flood warning and wind advisory until at least Monday afternoon. The weather service said coastal areas of suburban Long Island could see flooding, with up to 3 inches (about 8 centimeters) of rain and strong winds possible.
Wind gusts of more than 30 mph (48 kph) were already being recorded in the area Sunday morning.
Some flight delays and cancellations were announced at airports from Washington, DC to Boston.
It is expected that the storm will pass by Monday night.
