NDTV Indian of the Year: Shreyanka Patil sends special message to RCB men’s team in IPL 2024 | Cricket News

The Indian women’s cricket team received the ‘Best Sports Performance of the Year’ award at the NDTV India Personality of the Year Awards 2024 held in New Delhi on Saturday. The team is represented by Shreyanka Patil, Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav. They were presented with the award by tennis icon Sania Mirza. Shreyanka spoke about the changes that have taken place in women’s cricket in India over the past few years and thanked the BCCI for its support in terms of opportunities and funding.

“First of all thank you to NDTV for inviting us here and presenting this wonderful award. It means a lot. To answer the question, I think things have completely changed in the last few years. Women cricketers have also been prioritized financially, This is also an opportunity for us. It’s really great, thank you BCCI for giving us the opportunity and also giving us the financial support,” Shreyanka said.

Shreyanka was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team that won the recently concluded Women’s Premier League (WPL) title after defeating Delhi Capitals in the final. This is the first time an RCB team (men or women) has won the title and Shreyanka has a special message for Virat Kohli and Co for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign.

“I mean, we’ve been waiting for this trophy for the past 16 years and we finally did it, but I think the men’s team did a really good job. They worked really hard for this trophy and we can all see that. Really working hard and really wanting to perform well and take the trophy home. I think they will do it soon, good luck to them and thank you very much,” said the youngster.
