NDTV EXCLUSIVE: European Union’s Space Envoy has urged a rule-based order between China’s posture

Arun Jain, 14/04/2025

New Delhi:

The space is for all the benefits of all and to detect technology, emphasizing the special messenger of the European Union for space, which is for Marjolijan van Delen, to detect possibilities in New Delhi and increase cooperation between India and Europe in space.

His visit to India arrives after a historical and historic visit by the European Commission’s head Ursula von Der Leyen and the European Union College of Commissioners.

In a special interview for NDTV, Ms. Wan Dlan spoke about the benefits of space cooperation between India, a nation of over 1.4 billion people and the European Union, a block of 27 nations. He also underlined the importance of establishing a rule-based order for space to benefit the entire planet, and did not allow it to be weapons by some people.

Armed place

“We all depend on space, but we also see that space assets and space programs can be threatened by third -party actors. Surely we don’t want to do so,” he said, “We want all nations and future generations to be able to reach the space, so we need to discuss what we want to discuss and what we want to do about what we want to do and special,”

Speaking of urgency for such rules-based orders, Ms. Van Delon said, “We really need all nations to create an international structure for rules in space. We currently have a outside space treaty, but it has returned in 1967. Then, the world’s participation in space is very different.

“It is important that we protect that treaty, but it is important that we create more rules of roads that our predecessors cannot even be imagined in the 1960s. Therefore, in the context of the European Union, in the context of the United Nations, in the context of the United Nations, agree on a set of norms and principles of responsible behavior to join space, not to attack each other, which is not to attack each other, which is not to attack each other, not to attack each other. Is not for.

‘Space is for everyone’ – a rule – preparing a registered order

She admits that it will take time to “install such a structure. But once we have a place, it will help a lot in checking the functions of all nations in space. And if we see anything that is not according to the rules or norms, then we can hold further discussions with such actors. But currently we do not have such an ideal.”

He insisted that “this is not only about the participation and agreement of the nations participating in space. We really need all countries to come on board, as they can be nations going to future space and because they must be interested in keeping the space safe as they get data from our space programs.”

Focusing on joint efforts in this regard by India and the European Union, Ms. Wan Dlan said, “I think we can develop good arguments jointly in this regard to have a good international understanding”.

He also said about the purpose of his current visit to India and a potential India -urinary association in the space field, “My focus is on security and defense, but my colleagues in the European Commission have focused a lot on the European Space Program. We already have space.”

Chinese’s aggressive posture

Their comment comes at a time when the democratic world, including India, the United States, the European Union, wants to establish a rule-based order for space. Their comment also comes amidst real control against Indian military aircraft or increased spuofing activity along the LAC line as well as the border between India and China.

Reports also show that a few weeks ago, the Chinese satellite was involved in ‘dogfights’ in space as part of its danger and muscle seat in space. Last month, the US Space Force saw that “five separate (sugar) objects in space were maneuvering in and out and around each other under synchronous and control.” This comment is American Deputy Principal Space Operations General Michael A. Was held at a major defense summit in Guitalin.

“This is what we call dogfighting in space. They (China) are practicing strategy, techniques and procedures to conduct space from one satellite from another,” said by General Guitlin.

A dogfite usually refers to the close-ranges aerial combat between the fighter jets of the Air Force.

On receiving such abilities, a nation receives the ability to destroy, destroy or disable the entire satellites. This gives them powerful to disrupt operations such as communication or missiles of a rival army or detection. It can also be used to intervene and close global navigation systems that are widely used in many industries – from logistics and shipping, trains and motorable traffic, and even for banking and medical purposes.
