Patna, Nov 6 (IANS) Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed confidence in the NDA’s performance in the first phase of Bihar assembly elections after casting his vote at a polling booth at the Inter-Level State-run Higher Secondary School in Barhiya on Thursday.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “I am saying that NDA will win 121 seats and we will win more than 2010 seats.”
Voting began today for 121 constituencies across 18 districts, marking the beginning of a high-stakes electoral battle in Bihar. Over 3.75 crore voters are eligible to decide the fate of 1,314 candidates, including 122 women candidates. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm, although voting ended early due to security arrangements in some sensitive areas.
Union Minister Nitin Nabin cast his vote at a polling booth at Miller High School in Digha, urging citizens to exercise their democratic right: “I appeal to all voters at every polling booth to come out and vote in large numbers… I have cast my first vote at my booth, now you too should cast your first vote.”
Meanwhile, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma called on voters to actively participate in shaping the future of Bihar and contribute to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a stronger India: “Your contribution is your sacrifice and in this sacred cause, your vote is your gift. It is an important indicator of the condition and direction of Bihar. Everyone should cast their vote…”
The Election Commission of India has ensured tight security and surveillance by deploying state police, central armed forces and observers at all booths. Polling booths have also been 100 per cent webcast, with special provisions for all-women-managed booths, Divyang booths and 320 model polling booths that provide advanced facilities.
Deepmala Srivastava, BJP candidate from Bankipur assembly constituency and wife of minister Nitin Nabin, says, “Everyone should vote and vote today before doing anything else, this is my humble request to everyone. I urge people to vote early because only when the voting percentage increases, our democracy becomes stronger.”
