NCRB Report 2023: Odisha in states with highest crime rate against women

Bhubaneswar, 30 September (IANS) In a troubled development, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) latest report, Crime in India 2023, has revealed the deteriorating trend of crimes against women in Odisha.

The report has revealed that Odisha is one of the states and center areas that in 2023 registered the highest rate of crimes against women in the country (one lakh population). In the respective year, the rate of crimes against women in Odisha was at 112.4, which is the fourth highest after Delhi (133.6), Telangana (124.9) and Rajasthan.

In 2023, 25,914 cases of crime against women have been reported at various police stations, which is the sixth highest in the country.

Meanwhile, Odisha, with 761 cases, topped the list in cases of cybercrime -related cybercrime, including sexually apparent materials, blackmailing, defamation, morning and publishing or transmitting fake profiles.

The NCRB report has also revealed that Odisha is one of the top 10 states (7th), with 1195 cases, with the maximum number of maximum number of rapes registered during the above year. In 2023, the use of the child for pornography was reported in more than 30 cases and in Odisha and Karnataka for storing the child’s pornography material, which is the fourth largest in the country.

Odisha, with 9,367 cases, attacked the fourth largest number of fourths of her humility to attack women, while it topped the country with the highest offense rate under this category (40.6) in 2023.

According to the NCRB crime in India, 5,611 cases were registered in Odisha during 2023, which included the kidnapping and kidnapping of women. Although Odisha ranks seventh in the list of states and center areas under the category, the crime rate in Odisha (24.3) is second in the country after the national capital Delhi (39.5).
