Ahmedabad, 7 October (IANS) A special NDPS court in Gujarat sentenced a drug traffic to a 15 -year rigorous imprisonment, on Tuesday an official said that on Tuesday, an official said that in 2022, a car was sentenced to the control bureau (MD) and a drug control bureau (NCB) of a drug control bureau (NCB).
The special court sentenced Sameer Jamilbhai Sheikh to 15 -year rigorous imprisonment (RI), as well as a fine of Rs 2 lakh, on Monday, under the provisions of drugs and Psychotropic substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, under the provisions of 1985, for its participation in this heinous offense against society, in a statement.
The case is related to a seizure made on September 3, 2022, when working on specific intelligence, officials of the NCB Ahmedabad Zonal Unit seized 143 grams of Mefedron (MD) and Methfetamine from a car in Shah Alam Dargah, Ahmedabad and arrested Sheikh.
In March 2023, a complaint was filed in the case before NDPS Court, Ahmedabad City.
On Monday, the court blamed Sheikh, underlining the NCB’s commitment to eliminate drug -related crimes.
A statement by the NCB said, “This punishment will send a clear and strong message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated. Careful investigation and hardworking prosecution by the NCB team has ensured that a drug traffic is brought to justice, to save our community from misuse of matter.”
The official said the NCB would be dedicated to disrupt the drug network and to fulfill the commitment of drug-free India (Nasha Mutt Bharat) through proper investigation and prosecution of cases.
NCB’s recent success in achieving 12 years of rigorous imprisonment in Ahmedabad case, as well as a fine of Rs 1 lakh, for Bareilly drug traffic.
An official said that special NDPS court, Bareilly sentenced a drug traffic in an opium recovery case.
The official said in a statement that NCB Lucknow Zonal Unit arrested Satish Kumar while carrying 4 kg of opium in Bareilly on March 2, 2024.
In a judgment given on 26 September, Special Judge (NDPS), Bareilly sentenced Satish Kumar after convicting him under Section 08/18/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, the officer said.
An official of the Lucknow Zonal Unit of NCB said that immediately after the arrest of Satish Kumar, a thorough investigation was conducted, and a formal complaint was filed before the court on August 17, 2024. The trial included the examination of five prosecution witnesses, concluding the sentence.
