Washington DC:
NASA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion or DEI chief Neela Rajendra, who is of Indian origin, has been dismissed by the US Space Agency to compliance with Donald Trump’s executive order, to “finish” all individuals working under such an initiative to “finish”, and to end all such programs across the country.
In an attempt to save him from being fired, NASA allegedly converted his designation to the ‘Team Excellence and Head of the Office of Staff Success’ soon after President Trump’s executive order. But the attempt to protect him eventually failed.
In an e-mail update shared by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory last week, employees working in the top space lab were informed about Ms. Rajendra’s exit. “Neela Rajendra is no longer working in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. We are incredibly grateful to the permanent impact made for our organization. We wish him a lot of best wishes,” Read the e-mail, which according to the British newspaper Daily Mail, was sent by NAL’s JPL director Laur Lesin.
Ms. Rajendra was one of the handful of employees whose jobs were not last year when NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab faced a serious fund crunch. About 900 other Dei employees’ jobs at the top space agency were abolished at that time.
Even when NASA pulled down the shutter in its diversity department in March this year, Ms. Rajendra succeeded in removing it because her designation was changed, although her responsibilities were the same. A completely new department was created for him.
In an email on 10 March, NASA informed its employees that Neela Rajendra would now be the head of ‘Team Excellence and Employees’ success. The lab staff was told that in her new role, Ms. Rajendra would be responsible for “intimacy groups” in the laboratory, including “Black Excellence Strategic Team”.
After assuming her revised role, Ms. Rajendra wrote on her LinkedIn page that her job as the head of the newly formed office in NASA was mainly to unlock our ability to daring powerful things together. “
However, after a strict rift by the Trump administration in early April, he was relieved of his duties at NASA.
Neela Rajendra was in the role of leadership in NASA for many years. During her tenure, she was in charge of attempts to help in diversifying NASA, including ‘Space Workforce 2030’ pledge, whose primary purpose was to hire women and minorities in the organization.
NASA has now joined a host of other federal government agencies who have completely discontinued their diversity programs. The executive order of Donald Trump states that such programs have divided Americans based on breed, color and gender; The taxpayer has ruined the dollar, and “as a result of shameful discrimination”.
