After a long wait, the first train from China to Southern Malaysia departs subwayThe Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra) finally arrived at the Chennai Port.
This special driverless train prototype is equipped with Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) and is expected to arrive at Hebbagodi station near Electronic City on February 18.
BMRCL chief spokesperson BL Yeshwanth Chavan told TOI, “Customs clearance usually takes around 3-4 days and then the coaches will be transported to Bengaluru. Upon arrival, they will be assembled at the depot and undergo a series of tests before the trains are on the tracks Perform dynamic testing.”
“Given that this is a new train, we need to conduct 14 rigorous tests on the main line and then signal tests. A total of 37 tests must be completed before we seek approval from the Metro Safety Commissioner. Additionally, according to regulations, we must phase to obtain technical approval from the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety and the Railway Board,” explained Chavan.
He further mentioned that it will take at least 4-5 months to complete these tests and will be conducted after obtaining CMRS authorization. Technical experts from China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) will actively participate in the testing process.
CRRC has delivered two train body shells to local manufacturing partner Titagarh Rail System Limited for equipping. The two trains are expected to be delivered in May. Commercial operations are expected to begin around August or September.
