Anandpur Sahib, Nov 21 (IANS) Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Friday said ‘Nagar Kirtan’ (religious procession) starting from all four directions to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, will reach here on Saturday.
He said that all the ‘Nagar Kirtans’ will be given a grand welcome by the congregation of devotees gathered from all over the world by showering flowers.
The ‘Nagar Kirtan’ started from Srinagar, Gurdaspur, Faridkot and Talwandi Sabo with a total journey of 1,563 kilometres.
He said that adequate arrangements have been made in view of the possibility of a large number of Sangat coming on Martyrdom Day.
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that all arrangements have been made for the convenience of the Sangat arriving here.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, preparations and arrangements have been ensured in the holy city of Anandpur Sahib by the state government.
Large-scale religious ceremonies and gatherings will be held from November 23 to 25, including holding a special session of the Assembly.
Relevantly, light-and-sound shows depicting the great life and philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur are being organized in all 23 districts and ‘Kirtan Darbar’ is being arranged in Baba Bakala, Amritsar and Patiala cities.
Giving details of the series of programs to be held from November 23 to 25, Minister Bains said that on November 23, Shri Akhand Path Sahib will be launched at Gurdwara Sahib near Baba Budha Dal Chaunni, which will be attended by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Similarly, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate an exhibition depicting the life and achievements of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib at the Mann Virasat-e-Khalsa Memorial.
An all-religion conference will also be organized by the state government at Baba Budha Dal Chaunni, which will be attended by prominent religious figures and other dignitaries.
On November 24, a ‘nagar kirtan’ will be organized from Kiratpur Sahib to the Bhai Jaita-ji memorial.
A heritage walk will also be organized from Gurudwara Bhora Sahib to Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib from Guru Teg Bahadur Museum to Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib to Kula Anandgarh Sahib and will end at Virasat-e-Khalsa.
