Under the Channi-Monsar WaterShed Project, a newly built Czech Dam has hoped to relieve farmers in the water-deprived Channi-Mansar Panchayat of Rahmpur district.
At the estimated cost by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). 4.54 lakhs, the dam has addressed the shortage of rapid water that forced many farmers to leave their fields. For the purpose of soil and water conservation, this project has not only rejuvenated agricultural activities, but has also strengthened the socio-economic fabric of the village.
NABARD District In-Charge Siddharth said, “A few days ago, we conducted a training for self-help groups for 30 women on bee-keying … We also helped them to credits them under schemes such as HATP (Holistic Agricultural Development Program).
We are running tribal development programs … A lot of things were also organized under the Pani-Shed program, under which a well and a check dam was constructed and they are benefiting the local residents in the Channi-Mansar region … We provide training under PM Modi’s self-sufficient schemes … NABARD works here in two ways-Prabling-shine, which is to revive old water springs; And the water-shed, which is for conservation of water and soil … We are getting full support from the state and central government… ”.
For years, there was a lack of proper water storage facilities in the mountainous region of Channi-Mansar Panchayat, which removed rainwater without using. As a result, barren changed to the vast parts of the field, unable to cultivate seasonal crops. Many people were forced to quit agriculture, which deteriorated the economic condition of the region. However, the newly constructed check dam has changed the landscape by effectively harvesting of rain water, ensuring continuous irrigation for crops. A beneficiary farmer said yesterday, “This check dam is built after our appeal … because of this, we have water for our crops …
Villagers have expressed immense gratitude to NABARD and Government of India for the watershed project, which has not only reduced drought -like conditions, but has also increased agricultural productivity. Farmers can now grow many seasonal crops, increase their income significantly. The project has also played an important role in preventing soil erosion and improving groundwater levels, ensuring long -term benefits for the community.
Parshotam Kumar, president of the Water-Shed Project, said, “This has benefited many people in the area … This check dam will provide water to people, as well as animals, because they were deprived of it during summer … We faced a minor leakage issue in March, but we also appreciate the project. Plans…”. (AI)
