Mysore woman was locked up by her husband for 12 years and forced to use a small box as a toilet

In a shocking incident, a man in Mysuru, Karnataka, allegedly locked his wife in a room for nearly 12 years. The woman was rescued by police and taken to her parents’ home.

according to a TOI reportThe victim was identified as Suma, in her early thirties, and her husband Sannalaiah was a daily wage labourer.

While police said she had been locked up for weeks, Souma claimed she had been locked in her room since she married her husband Sanaiya 12 years ago.

The woman also said she used a small box at home for toileting and toileting and would wait outside the house after her children returned from school until her husband returned from get off work, then let them in as she was kept locked inside.

Authorities explained that Souma said she used to give food to her children through the window after they returned from school.

“I have been married for 12 years. He would always lock me in the house and torture me. No one in the area would question him… My children go to school. But they stay outside until my husband comes back from get off work. I would give them food through the window,” Souma told India Today.

The woman was reportedly the defendant’s third wife, with whom he had two children. However, the victim refused to complain about her husband.
