When Carly Condon recalls her son Jacob, she always depicts a boy when busy and moving forward.

When she arrived, the police were waiting. He explained to him that Jacob was behind an e-scooter who was involved in an accident. Medics decided to keep it in a coma, so that his brain could be prevented from swelling and his body could get a chance to relax.

“It was real looking at your child like this,” Carly said. “I don’t even know how to explain it. It was terrible.”

The next week, Jacob was kept in intensive care, where he was taken care of by doctors around the clock. But eight days after the collision, Jacob died after suffering from his heart arrest.

“I found it very powerless,” Carly said. “It is as if things get out of your control, and you can’t do anything about it. You think you are a mother, you need to protect them.

“I feel that when they told me, everything was just away from me. There was nothing that I could do, but just to be with him, tell him how much I love him, and tell him how proud I am on him. I am proud of the fight that he gave.”

About five months from the tragedy, Carley is trying to ensure his energy that what happened to Jacob did not happen to anyone else. He has started a visit to Jacob, aimed at the purpose of changing the law for the use of e-scooters and strict rules.
