Mumbai, September 22 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that urbanization is expanding in the cities of Mumbai, saying that citizens have to travel long distances to go for work.
“It is necessary to provide the ‘final-meal connectivity’ to the citizens, with” the public transport system strengthened, “he said.
The next step in the transport service is ‘pod taxi’ and should be brought to the service of citizens for ‘final mile connectivity’, the Chief Minister said.
Chief Minister Fadnavis chaired a meeting between Kurla and Bandra railway station to review the launch of the pod taxi in ‘Business District’.
He said that pod taxi will be important in ‘Business District’ between Kurla and Bandra railway station.
“Bullet train station, which is coming in the decision of the Bandra-Kurla Complex and the Mumbai High Court, is expected to increase the traffic in the region. There is a strong possibility that this will put pressure on the existing transport service and face difficulties. In future, pod taxis will have an option for citizens of the region.
He also said: “A system is being created in Mumbai to enable traveling in all transport services through a card. Citizens should also be able to avail pod taxi services through this single card. Kurla and Bandra station areas should be developed according to pod taxis. Instead of police housing space in Kurla station area, also for building, also for building.”
Keeping in mind the commercial importance of the region, the Chief Minister directed the administration to take care to ensure that world -class service is maintained.
He also suggested on the occasion that good concepts should be applied to use the skywalk outside the station.
Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that there are pod taxi compact, automatic electric vehicles that offer a high -speed travel without a driver.
Each pod taxi can be adjusted to eight sitting passengers with an additional 13 standing passengers.
It is being designed for a sharp, durable and crowded transport option.
