‘MS Dhoni was recommended as India skipper’: Sachin Tendulkar’s huge revelation | Cricket News

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has praised former India captain MS Dhoni, calling him “intuitive, instinctive” and capable of taking the right decisions, recalling his recommendation of a young player to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007 MSD, to lead cricket India. Dhoni, who has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five IPL titles, has a new captain this season. Ruturaj Gaikwad leads CSK against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener in Chennai on Friday. The home team won the match by six wickets. While Gaikwad was the captain, MS caught everyone’s attention as he often helped the new captain with field positioning.

In an interview with JioCinema, Sachin revealed that he was appointed captain after the 50-over defeat in the 2007 World Cup but his form was not good. Instead, Sachin recommended Dhoni’s name to the then BCCI president Sharad Pawar.

“BCCI president Sharad Pawar sir asked me to lead India in 2007. I said, ‘My physical condition is very bad, I don’t think the captain will go to the dressing room every now and then, his ankles are tied, Or he got some treatment on his shoulder and so on, which is not the right thing for our team.” My observation of MS Dhoni is very good because I have been handling the slips and have had many conversations with him . I always ask him, “What would you do now?” The answer is a balance. He is very intuitive; he is instinctive and his awareness of a given moment is extraordinary,” Tendulkar said.

“His mentality is very stable, he is calm, he has instincts and he takes the right decisions. At that time, I recommended him to the BCCI president and said, ‘I see leadership qualities in him, so you should consider Him,” added Sachin.

Dhoni has an impressive legacy. He holds the ICC T20 World Cup, ICC Cricket World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy and is the only captain to win all the ICC titles. Apart from this, he also won 5 IPL titles and 2 T20 Champions League titles for CSK and won the Asia Cup title for India in 2010 and 2016.

CSK’s next match will be against last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans in Chennai on March 26.
