Richard Madley has a deep connection with the Indian Premier League (IPL). The auctioneer was in charge of the tournament’s auction since its inception in 2008 and conducted it until 2018 when he was replaced by current IPL auctioneer Hugh Adamdes. Madley took to social media to post a throwback picture on the 16th anniversary of the first IPL auction. He posted an auction sheet which included the names of key marquee players like MS Dhoni and Shane Warne and their base prices. They also asked users to guess the teams and prices that the players got.

Madeley posted on “Yes, can you fill in the blanks? Anniversary tomorrow.” as Twitter).

MS Dhoni’s return to professional cricket will be the biggest attraction of IPL 2024. While the former Indian cricket team captain has long since retired from international cricket, the T20 franchise league is a platform where he continues to shine.

Last year, MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to a record-equalling fifth IPL title. Although there have been several videos on social media showing MS Dhoni practicing, there has been no official statement on whether he is fit for the game or not.

Knee problems troubled him during IPL 2023 and he also had surgery. MS Dhoni’s former teammate Parthiv Patel gave an interesting update on his recent meeting with the superstar.

“We didn’t talk about cricket at all. We were there to attend a common friend’s wedding. We didn’t talk about cricket. And usually we don’t talk unless we’re on the field. Don’t be. This is not the time when we talk about cricket. We were just having fun,” Times Now quoted Parthiv as saying.
