Balaghat, November 11 (IANS) In a horrific incident, a man brutally murdered a woman in broad daylight in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. Police gave this information on Tuesday.
This cruel incident which took place in Baihar town of tribal dominated district Balaghat was captured by some eyewitnesses in their mobile cameras, due to which panic spread in the area.
A video surfaced on social media shows a man attacking a woman with a knife and then slitting her throat multiple times.
In the video, the woman is seen lying unconscious, soaked in blood.
It is also seen in the viral video that after slitting the woman’s throat, the killer lay down next to her and became unconscious, when some people caught him and handed him over to the police.
The irony is that more than a dozen spectators were standing nearby and watching the brutality, but none of them dared to intervene and try to save the victim. However, an eyewitness informed the local area police.
Later, when the police reached the spot, the killer was lying unconscious with a blood stained knife. The police arrested him and took him to the hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Ritu Bhandarkar, a resident of Amgaon village and she worked in a furniture shop in Baihar town of Balaghat.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adarsh Kant Shukla told media persons that the woman was waiting for the bus, and the accused came near her on a motorcycle.
ASP Shukla said that preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the accused knew each other.
“Initially, there was a heated argument between them. Meanwhile, the man took out a knife and started attacking the woman. When she fell on the ground, the accused slit her throat,” he said.
Shukla said, “The accused have been arrested and admitted to the hospital for treatment. They will be interrogated immediately after regaining consciousness. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. The investigation is underway.”
