MP Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah transferred SC against HC order.

Web Desk, 15/05/2025

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has stepped into the Supreme Court against the May 14 order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, who ordered an FIR registration against him for his remarks against Indian Army Officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who had informed the media about Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.

Taking cognizance of the controversial statement, the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday ordered the police to register an FIR against the minister. Shah’s lawyers will mention the petition for immediate hearing before the apex court today.

On Wednesday, an FIR was lodged against him under sections 152, 196 (1) (B) and 197 (1) (C) of the Indian Joint Code (BNS) following the High Court order.

A Division Bench of the High Court had taken Suu Motu cognitive against him and directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to immediately lodge the FIR.

The office of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had said on X, “Following the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the Chief Minister has directed to take action about the statement of Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah.”

A division bench of Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Anuradha Shukla heard the matter on Wednesday.

The court said that if the FIR is not registered till Wednesday evening, the court may consider action against the state’s Director General of Police for contempt of order.

The court said in a copy of the order, “The statement made by Minister Vijay Shah Prima Feshi has a tendency to reduce the feelings of enmity or hatred or sick between Muslim trust members and other persons, which are not related to the same religion.”

The court also directed the AG office to broadcast the order to the office of the Director General of Police of the state and ensure that this has been done.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for May 15 and the court has listed the case on top of the list.

Controversy arose after a video clip of Shah’s speech went viral on social media. In his explanation, Shah said that his comments were excluded from the context and Colonel was to praise Qureshi’s bravery.

Talking to Annie in a line, the minister said, “My entire background is from the army. Many of my family members were martyred and were in the army … Colonel Sophia Qureshi is above my real sister who performed national religion and took revenge on those. He (Qureshi) is not more than my real sister. Ten times.

“The minister further said,” I am a patriotic person, and people of every community worked for the nation. If something got angry and someone felt bad, then I would like to say that I am not God; I am also a human being. I apologize ten times for this. “(AI)
