Bhopal, October 8 (IANS) The innovative change of ‘Revenue Records’ of Jabalpur district administration was shown on the second day of the Collector Commissioner’s Conference in Bhopal on Wednesday.
Deepak Saxena, Public Relations Commissioner (DPR), who recently served as District Collector, took the initiative to renew the Jabalpur revenue collection, through a short film presentation.
Presenting this idea, Saxena said that the newly renovated Jabalpur revenue collection now resembles a modern bank locker room in its environment and organization. He said that innovation has greatly improved public reach to the revenue records, which has completely changed his experience.
Saxena said, “This initiative has already freed both public and collection employees from untoward and disorganized circumstances, and has greatly reduced the necessary efforts to detect specific records.”
He further stated that the collection holds revenue records of genetic importance for families, which are now not only safely stored, but easily tracedable with complete transparency.
He reported that a newly developed digital portal allows users to detect records by only a few entries, identifying the exact rack, shelf, box and file number. Applicants can access this information through a kiosk installed from home or outside the record room.
Commissioner Saxena shared that the state of the revenue record room across the state is usually the same – overcoured and disorganized, only with information about the file locations known for some clerks or assistants.
He said, “This made it very difficult for the citizens to get their own records. To address the issue, the record room in Jabalpur was rebuilt and modernized. The old iron racks were repaired and rebuilt, and they were replaced with durable plastic boxes,” he said.
Each case file was individually packed in plastic sleeves, then placed inside the labeled plastic boxes.
Color-coded stickers were used for tensil-wise classification, while each box was labeled with year-wise and category-wise details. Each rack, shelf, plastic box and file were assigned a unique location code. These codes were pasted as stickers on boxes and files.
An online application was developed to host all location-related information, so that users could easily access case file data. This move towards good governance has made the recovery of revenue records simple, fast and more transparent for citizens and officials.
