Bhopal, November 5 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday announced that farmers across the state will be guaranteed ten hours of uninterrupted power supply under all circumstances.

The announcement comes in the wake of a controversial circular issued by Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPVV), which had warned of salary cuts for officials if agricultural feeders supply power beyond the ten-hour limit.

Yadav clarified that the circular, which had created a lot of unrest among the farming community, has been canceled with immediate effect.

He further confirmed that the chief engineer responsible for issuing the order has been removed from his post, and legal proceedings have been initiated to ensure that such lapses do not happen again.

Yadav stressed that the welfare of farmers remains the top priority of the government and assured that no administrative confusion will be allowed to compromise their interests.

The directive, signed by Chief General Manager RS Jain, had created widespread concern among farmers and triggered a political reaction, with opposition parties accusing the government of neglecting rural needs.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the State Government is sensitive and responsive to the challenges faced by farmers, and is actively working to increase their income, improve irrigation infrastructure and make agriculture more self-reliant.

He stressed that the prosperity of farmers directly reflects the prosperity of the state and directed all departments to ensure that farmers are not inconvenienced in any way.

The government’s prompt action to rescind the circular and punish the official responsible is being seen as an attempt to restore confidence and prevent further political fallout.

The initial directive of the MPVV had outlined a punitive framework in which officials from operator to general manager level would face salary cuts if power supply exceeds the prescribed limit.

Although the company later issued a clarification, public sentiments had already run high over the loss, prompting the Chief Minister to intervene.

As the Rabi season approaches, the assurance of stable power supply is expected to provide relief to farmers, many of whom are heavily dependent on electricity for irrigation.

With this move, the government aims to strengthen its image as a farmer-first administration, committed to both accountability and agricultural progress.
