Bhopal, October 21 (IANS) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav distributed gifts to girls from underprivileged families and extended best wishes for the festival at a program organized on the occasion of Diwali festival in Bhopal on Tuesday.
Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that daughters are the pride of Madhya Pradesh and no stone will be left unturned to make their lives happy and prosperous.
He reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought happiness in the lives of poor families by providing them housing.
“Many welfare schemes are being implemented by the Central and State Government for the welfare of women and daughters,” he said.
The Chief Minister remarked that Diwali brings smiles on everyone’s faces and celebrating the festival with his daughters has doubled his happiness. He also talked to the girls about their education and family life.
Bhopal MP Alok Sharma also attended the program along with other leaders at a community hall in Idgah Hills, Bhopal late in the evening.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also performed the Dhanvantari Puja program held on the occasion of Dhanteras at Mansarovar Medical College in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh.
He said, “‘Goverdhan Puja’ symbolizes the idea of live and let live and sharing available food and resources with the society. Preservation of our culture and traditions is our common responsibility.”
He said that animal husbandry has an important role in doubling the income of farmers in the state. He informed that at present, Madhya Pradesh contributes 9 percent to the total milk production of the country. The target is to increase it to 20 percent.
The state government is committed to make Madhya Pradesh a leading milk producing state. Many schemes are being implemented to encourage animal husbandry and dairy production. Financial assistance to cow shelters has been increased from Rs 20 to Rs 40 per cow per day.
Yadav called upon the society to stand shoulder to shoulder with the government in cow protection and said that this will also strengthen the flow of Sanatan culture.
He said that any person interested in rearing cows, running a cow shed or cooperating in the operation of a cow shed will get full assistance from the state government.
