Mother of terminally ill son pleads for return of stolen converted van

The mother of a terminally ill teenager is pleading for the return of his specially adapted van which was stolen earlier this week.

Thirteen-year-old Elijah Cariazo was born with a rare muscle disease called myotubular myopathy.

He had trouble breathing and swallowing and needed a gray Ford Transit custom car to get to hospital appointments.

The vehicle took nine months to customize and is large enough to carry bulky medical equipment.

Scotland Yard said CCTV footage captured two men breaking into vehicles outside their home in Loughanda Close, Hackney, east London.

The vehicle turned left onto Clarissa Street and then left again onto Lee Street towards the A10 Kingsland Road.

Police described the suspects as two white men, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim build.

They were wearing black tracksuits and one of them was carrying a backpack.

The rear right side of the van is missing a hubcap, but there is a unique sticker on the rear door for a wheelchair ramp.

Elijah’s mother Onesa said: “I call on everyone to take note of Elijah’s lifeline. This is more than just a vehicle, it is our path to freedom. Without it, our poor child is in danger of losing his life.” In the final days, you won’t be able to see.”

“This car is not easy to replace and it will be his 14th birthday in a few days.
