Israel will send a Mossad-led delegation to Cairo on Tuesday, led by the Shin Bet, to discuss a framework for releasing the hostages and achieving an extended pause in the war in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden hosted Jordanian King Abdullah this week and discussed implementing a six-week ceasefire that would see all hostages held by Palestinian terror group Hamas in Gaza released.

“We cannot afford the Israeli attack on Rafah. It will certainly cause another humanitarian disaster. We cannot stand by and let this continue. We need a lasting ceasefire now – this war must end,” Jordan’s King Al Abdullah said.

“All attacks against innocent civilians, women and children, including the attack on October 7, are unacceptable to any Muslim. As I have stressed before, we must ensure that the past few months since October 7 The horrific events will never be repeated and will not be tolerated by anyone.”

CIA Director Bill Burns, Israel’s Mossad Director David Bania, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the Director of Egypt’s Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel will attend the meeting to be held in Cairo. Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar will also be in attendance.

The two sides will resume talks headed by CIA Director Bill Burns, Israel’s Mossad chief David Bania, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egypt’s intelligence chief Negotiations for the three-phase deal planned by Abbas Kamal.

During the proposed three-phase humanitarian pause, 35 to 40 Israeli hostages, including women, men over 60 years old and those with serious medical conditions, would be released during the initial six-week phase. Subsequent phases will involve the release of the bodies of Israeli soldiers and deceased hostages. If both sides agree to the Paris proposal, further details on these stages and the possible release of Palestinian security prisoners by Israel will be discussed in subsequent negotiations.
