More than 1.5 million bags of cheese recalled due to possible metal contamination

A Memorization more than 15 lakh bags of cheese has been increased and declared a high-risk health hazard.

In October, Ohio-based Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. multiple missed Its cheese brands have been spoiled due to possible metal fragments in the products, according to a report from the US Food and Drug Administration. Thousands of cases of grated cheese, including target The Good & Gather brand and Walmart’s Great Value line were included in the recall.

Now, the FDA has increased the recall to Class II, meaning there is a serious health risk associated with consuming the contaminated products.

The affected items were sold under multiple private labels in stores in 31 states and Puerto Rico, including Target, Walmart, and Aldi.

Some of the recalled products include shredded low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese under the brand names Hill Country Fare, Happy Farms by Aldi, Know & Love, Publix, Lucerne Dairy Farms and Always Save.

Various bags of pizza-style cheeses from Food Club, Laura Lynn and Great Value were included in the recall. Cases of Good & Gather Mozzarella and Parmesan Shredded Cheese Blend, a popular product from Target, are also affected.

Additionally, thousands of bags of shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese blends from Great Lakes Cheese, Great Value and Good & Gather are part of the recall.

Most cheeses were sold in bags ranging from eight ounces to 32 ounces. All recalled items can be identified by their UPC or Best Buy dates, listed here,

Although no illnesses have been reported to date, consumers are urged to immediately dispose of the recalled items or return them to the place of purchase.

Great Lakes Cheese is one of several businesses that have recently issued a cheese recall.

According To Big Y, Embriola Company, a supermarket chain that sells Boar’s Head products, also issued a recall for Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano Veg. However, this recall is due to “the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in other products that are affected to prioritize consumer safety.”

according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Listeria is a “bacteria that can contaminate many foods”, infection is caused by eating food containing Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Although symptoms may vary, Listeria infection “can cause aggressive disease and intestinal disease.”

Short-term symptoms in healthy individuals with Listeria infection may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, and stomach pain. Listeria infection is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the United States, killing about 260 people per year.
