New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) Two people were arrested and around 50-60 kg of explosives were seized in a major operation following a raid in Sector 56 of Faridabad, Haryana. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. The development comes a day after the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro station on Monday evening when a Haryana-registered car, a Hyundai i20, parked near Gate No. 1 of the station, exploded, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens. The Crime Branch carried out this major action in Sector 56 area of Faridabad. During this period, about 50 to 60 kg of explosive material was recovered. Besides, two accused were also arrested. The incident also came after police busted a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror outfits in Faridabad and seized 2,900 kg of explosives and huge cache of arms and ammunition. The police also announced that in the last few days, they have arrested two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir, Adil Ahmed Rather and Muzammil, who were associated with these terror outfits, which, according to sources, caused the module panic and explosion. Meanwhile, a case has been registered under UAPA sections 16 and 18 as well as provisions of the Explosives Act and several sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). The Home Ministry on Tuesday handed over the investigation into the Delhi blasts to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The case was handed over to the NIA after Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday took stock of the investigation and multi-state search being conducted in the Delhi blasts case, reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to bring the culprits to justice. As part of stringent security measures, Delhi Police has closed Gate No. 1 and 4 of Red Fort Metro station for public movement due to the ongoing security operations in the area. Delhi Police continues to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the blast, and insist that all possible angles are being investigated. –IANS SD/DPB
