Moneycontrol overtakes Economic Times to become business news leader

Moneycontrol has overtaken The Economic Times (ET), making it the clear digital leader in business, markets and finance news in India. According to the latest viewership data from comScore, which measures digital readership, it has overtaken ET in all major ratings categories.

With 30.02 million unique viewers, Moneycontrol grew 9% in December 2023 and overtook ET (28.6 million) and Mint in readership and monthly traffic.

Moneycontrol strengthened and extended its lead over ET and Mint in both pageviews and time spent. These are two key metrics of digital reader engagement and sustainable competitive advantage.

The platform garnered 368 million pageviews in December 2023 – more than double the number’s pageviews. 2 in this category, ET (173 million).

In fact, Moneycontrol’s pageviews in this period, up 13%, were more than ET and Mint’s combined pageviews (137 million).

The complete dominance of money control in this area was also evident in time expenditure.

The 863 million minutes that Moneycontrol readers spent reading its pages in December 2023 was four times more than the time spent on ET (199 million minutes) and more than that spent by ET and Mint readers combined (154 million minutes). It was double the time taken.
