Mokama assembly constituency, which falls under Barh subdivision of Patna district, is considered the stronghold of strongman Anant Singh, who has been winning the seat since 2005.
RJD has chosen former MP Veena Devi to contest Singh in Mokama. This time the fight will be triangular, in which apart from JDU and RJD, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP) has fielded Priyadarshi Piyush.

What happened in the 2020 and 2015 assembly elections?
In the 2020 Bihar election, RJD candidate Anant Singh won the seat by a large margin, receiving 78,721 votes (52.99%). He defeated JDU leader Rajiv Lochan Narayan Singh, who got 42,964 votes (28.92%). LJP leader Suresh Singh Nishad stood third with 13,331 votes (8.97%).
Singh contested the 2015 Bihar election as an independent candidate and won the seat with 54,005 votes (37.35%). He defeated JDU candidate Neeraj Kumar, who received 35,657 votes (24.66%). JAP(L) candidate Lalan Singh stood third with 16,655 votes (11.52%).
