A few hours after the federal government raised obstacles in the place for years in the capital, an attack by a militant group, targeting a major prison, exploded an explosion and heavy gun bullet near the President’s palace of Somalia on Saturday.
Inter -resident Mogadishu Bondhare’s district reported to listen to explosions and shelling and see smoke smoking from prison, which also serves as headquarters for the regional intelligence unit.
A resident, Hibo Mohammed, told the associated press by the phone, “We are really scared. The city was calm for months, but now everyone feels worried once again.”
The al-Qaeda-Linked al-Shabab terrorist group, located in Somalia, claimed the responsibility of the attack, saying that he had released the prisoners.
The government did not immediately comment on the attack, and the phone calls and messages to the authorities became unanswered on Saturday.
Somalia’s state media reported that the militants used a vehicle disguised to meet the security forces of the intelligence unit, and the soldiers left behind the attack and killed several terrorists.
The attack targeted the Godka District Jail, which was first attacked in 2014 when al-Shabab terrorists closed a suicide car bomb at the gate before the storm in the campus in an attempt to free the prisoners. The Somali forces repeated the attackers in that attack, but at least a dozen people were killed.
Saturday’s attack came a few hours later by the federal government raising many long -run obstacles in Mogadishu. Obstacles for the safety of important government sites were kept for years, but many residents argued that they interrupted traffic and commerce.
Security forces immediately closed the roads leading to the spot, while the ambulances hurry in the area. The number of casualties was not immediately clear.
Mogadishu had become relatively calm as government forces in recent months, supported by local militia and African union The soldiers have pushed the al-Shabab fighters out of many areas of Central and Southern Somalia.
