Modi responds to Macron’s tweet on selfie with PM in Jaipur: ‘Your presence will add’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked French President Emmanuel Macron, who was the chief guest at the 75th Republic Day celebrations, for attending the grand event on royal duty.

“Thank you President Emmanuel Macron for joining our Republic Day celebrations. Your presence will give great impetus to India-France relations. Your presence will give great impetus to India-France relations,” Prime Minister Modi wrote in French while replying to a selfie uploaded by the French President on X (formerly Twitter).

In an earlier tweet, Modi said, “Grateful for France’s participation in our Republic Day celebrations. Military bands, marching contingents, jet and multirole aircraft tankers contributed to making the parade memorable.

The Prime Minister’s tweet was in response to Macron’s selfie with PM Modi during his visit to Jaipur with the iconic Hawa Mahal in the background.

Macron posted the picture with the caption, “My dear friend Narendra Modi, my warm wishes to the Indian people on your Republic Day. Happy and honored to be with you.”

In another post on Twitter, Macron wrote, “A great honor for France. Thank you, India.”

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday witnessed India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations on a royal tour, joining a select group of global leaders to grace the country’s biggest ceremonial event in the last seven decades.

As the chief guest at the ceremony, Macron witnessed the grand military parade and cultural performances along with President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Cabinet members, foreign diplomats and several other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, President Draupadi Murmu hosted a banquet in honor of her French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital.

President Murmu expressed satisfaction that both sides have outlined an ambitious vision of our partnership for India’s Amrit Kaal and said the visit has strengthened our resolve to realize this vision.

Macron began his two-day visit to India with a visit to Jaipur. The French President was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations on Friday while on duty.
