Bhaderwah : In a decisive step to curb anti-national activities and maintain public order, Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has suspended mobile internet services in Bhadrao, a city in Doda district. The suspension, which started at 8 pm on 22 May, will remain in effect till 27 May, 2025.
The order issued under temporary suspension of telecom service rules, 2024, affects 37 telecom towers. It was implemented after a instruction from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, and was formally signed by Principal Secretary Chandrar Bharti through the Government Order No. -12 (TSTS) of 2025.
According to officials, the decision aims to prevent possible misuse of the Internet by anti-national elements and miscreants during a sensitive period, which can disturb peace and public system in the region. All mobile data services including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and public Wi-Fi networks have been affected.
Officials highlighted that this measure was taken due to the immediate and important nature of the situation. According to the provisions of the new Telecom Act, 2023 and 2024 suspension rules, the move did not require prior withdrawal from higher authorities.
The Home Department underlined the need for suspension to protect national security and ensure public safety, citing input from the Jammu Zone Police. Telecom and Internet service providers have been directed to strictly comply with the order.
The administration has appealed to the public for cooperation, assuring citizens that such steps are taken only in extraordinary circumstances to maintain law and order.
