Bandipora, August 25: After powerful hailstorm on Saturday evening, who wreaked havoc on standing crops and apple orchards in many villages of Bandipora district of North Kashmir, Dardpora and Shamathan to affect the worst, MLA Bondipora Nizamuddin Bhat affected the affected people to assess the situation.
According to a statement issued here, the MLA was with officials of agriculture, horticulture, and field teams, who inspected the damaged gardens, crops and botanical areas to reduce the loss limit.
Expressing concern, Bhat urged the district administration to evaluate immediate damage and give relief for distressed farmers and gardens. “The disadvantages are widespread and timely intervention is necessary for the protection of livelihood,” he said, assuring the residents that the case will be taken with high officials.
The farmers of the valley were very much dependent on the apple season, stating that hailstorm has given a serious blow to their crops prospects. The statement said that many people have expressed the possibility of financial stress.
