Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday inaugurated the renovated memorial for Dravidian icon CN Annadurai and a spectacular new memorial for former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the Marina Beach here.
The Kalaignar (as late CM Karunanidhi is fondly addressed) memorial has many attractive and interesting features, including an underground digital museum showcasing his empire. Other highlights of the sea-facing Karunanidhi Memorial, built at a cost of Rs 39 crore on 8.57 acres of land in the Anna Complex on Kamarajar Salai, include touchscreen displays, a library and selfie points.
A static train surrounded by 7D screens, where visitors will feel as if they are traveling on a train from Thiruvarur to Chennai, welcomes the visitors.
The memorial of former Chief Minister CN Annadurai is located opposite Karunanidhi’s memorial.
Mr Stalin was accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues and several leaders at the event, which was attended by Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth. On this occasion, after paying floral tributes at the statue of Annadurai, he unveiled a huge statue of his father and former DMK president Karunanidhi.
