Mitchell Marsh gives update on his recovery from hamstring injury cricket news

Australia’s new men’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh said he hopes to get things sorted out in the next three weeks and recover from a hamstring injury and be back to full form in time for the World Cup in the United States and West Indies. Will regain fitness when Australia plays its first match. Match against Oman in Barbados on 6 June. Marsh has been out of the field since the match for Delhi Capitals on April 3 due to a strain in his right hamstring. He flew to Perth ahead of IPL 2024 in India to begin his recovery, which was managed by Cricket Australia. “Hammy is good, it’s coming along really well. It’s exactly where we want it to be. It’s one of those things. Just got to fix it over the next three weeks and get on the plane,” Marsh told reporters in Perth on Thursday.

The 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup will be Marsh’s first full-time event as Australia captain in the shortest format, after taking over the post in an interim capacity. “Really proud. Marsh also revealed that he is in constant touch with ODI and Test captain Pat Cummins, who led Australia to the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup wins last year. Cummins will play under the captaincy of Marsh in the T20 World Cup.

“We’re always in communication as teammates and, I think, as leaders. But there’s no real conversation about cricket, just always catching up on each other. We Very good friends so I look forward to working with him in the next period.”

Marsh has backed veteran David Warner to do well in Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign, which will also be his debut as an international cricketer after retiring from Tests and ODIs earlier this year. Warner is currently recovering from a hand injury he sustained while batting in DC’s match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 12.
