Bengaluru, September 18 (IANS) A yoga instructor has been arrested in Bangalore for raping a minor girl, police said on Thursday.
The 17 -year -old girl has filed a police complaint alleging rape.
DCP West S. Girish said that the police have filed a case against the accused, who participated in the preservation of the Children’s Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) under the protection of a yoga center in the RR Nagar area.
The accused used his position to sexually harass the minor, which helped him win the international medal.
After filing the complaint, the police started a manhunt for the accused and arrested him.
Police investigation revealed that yoga instructors were also involved in the rape of 10 to 15 women, who participated in classrooms at their yoga center.
The police have seized her mobile phone and urging other victims to come forward and file a complaint. According to police sources, a video related to the crime was also recovered, and more women are expected to file a complaint against him.
More details regarding the incident have not yet emerged.
Earlier, on 6 August, a 22 -year -old Maulvi was arrested by the Karnataka police in connection with the alleged rape of a five -year -old girl in Belgavi district of the state. Police said the incident in 2023 came out after CCTV footage went viral on social media.
In May, Pontif, a self-proclaimed Pontif, from Belgavi, Karnataka, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl.
According to reports, the incident occurred on 13 May, when the minor girl was returning from a relative’s house. The accused claimed that he would safely leave his house, instead brought him to a lodge in Raichur. There, he allegedly kept her for two days and raped her. The report said that he later took him to another lodge in Baglkot, where he continued to sexually abuse her.
