This is the frightening moment a weather present collapsed on live morning TV. Alissa Carlson Schwartz was about to update CBS Los Angeles on the latest weather developments at 7am on Saturday when she turned white and leaned forward uneasily on her desk.
The meteorologist tried to maintain her balance but her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she slowly slipped forward.
Co-hosts Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim did not initially seem to notice that Schwartz was about to collapse.
However, the pair quickly decided to cut to a commercial break when Schwartz fell.
Medina said: “Who is ready for some sunshine? I know I am.
“Me,” fellow host Kim added.
Medina continued: “Let’s start off with the check of your next weather with meteorologist Alissa Carlson, she joins us from the studio.
As Schwartz slumped against the table, Medina added: “Alissa this really is the calm before the storm.”
Kim responded by saying “not again”, before exclaiming “oh” as Schwartz slumped.
The morning show did not return to a live segment, according to reports.
Schwartz later said she is “going to be ok”, thanking friends and viewers in a post on Facebook at around 2.30pm.
It is not yet clear what caused Schwartz to faint.
However, reports suggest Schwartz experienced a similar episode back in 2014 when she was employed by another news network.
Mike Dello Stritto, CBS Los Angeles Vice President and News Director, told TMZ: “I want to thank [Schwarz’s] co-workers who took immediate action to comfort Alissa and call 911.”
He added: “Alissa is being treated at the hospital right now. Hopefully we’ll know more shortly.
“In the meantime, Alissa will be in our thoughts and we’re praying for her to be feeling much better soon.”
In 2014, Schwartz was said to have vomited on set during a weather report and as a result was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve.
