Mehboba Mufti of PDP requested for questioning in Gujarat plane crash

Mehboboba Mufti, head of the People’s Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed grief and demanded a proper investigation in Thursday’s plane crash that took place near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad.

Mufti told reporters here, “I want to express my grief over the incident in Ahmedabad, I hope that the government will conduct a proper investigation and whoever is responsible for it, hopefully the responsibility will be fixed.”

Air India Flight AI 171, 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, a Canadian and seven Portuguese crashed near Ahmedabad Airport today.

Boeing commercial airplanes, which manufacture 787 Dreamliner, said, “We are in touch with Air India about Udaan 171 and are ready to support them. Our views are with passengers, crews, first respondents and all the affected.”

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the tragic incident in Ahmedabad, called it “shocking heart beyond words”.

PM Modi said that he is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant communication with the state officials.

The Prime Minister wrote, “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has shocked and unhappy us. It is beyond words. In this sad hour, my views are with all the people affected by it. The ministers and officials are in touch with the ministers and officials who are working to help the affected people,” the Prime Minister wrote.

The aircraft was under the command of an LTC Captain Sumit Sabarwal with an 8,200 -hour flight experience. The official said he was assisted by the first officer Clive Kundar, who had a 1,100 -hour flying experience.

According to the Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft left for the runway 23 to 1339 IST (0809 UTC). It gave the ATC a day of May 1, but after that, no response was given by the aircraft to the call made by the ATC. (AI)
